Tortoises Worm Count

Worm counting tortoises is an essential part of the level of care they require. Worms are surprisingly common in tortoises, so regular testing is recommended as the signs can be hard to spot. As with other animals regular unnecessary worming is not recommended. Worm counts allow you to easily check on the health of your animal and take appropriate action to rid them of nasty parasites.

Our faecal screens examine for all parasites including cryptosporidium and some protozoa. For this we require a 3 day pooled faeces sample, as this increases the chances of finding any parasites which can be intermittently shed. A pooled sample is faeces collected over 3 days and placed in to the same sterile container for testing.
